Abraham Clarkson

Events

BirthPrimary record
16 August 1853, Vlissingen, Zeeland, Netherlands
DeathNo record found
14 September 1882, Panteh Perak, Atjeh, Netherlands Indies

Death not found in a record. A search of Open Archieven for every Clarkson record returns no Breda (or other Dutch) death or transcription for him in 1882-1883, so the GenArchives claim of 23 Nov 1882 at Breda is still unverified; their page also mistypes his birth as 1863. He last appears in the Officiersboekjes for 1883, consistent with a death in late 1882.

OccupationCompiled source
1e luitenant infanterie, KNIL.

Marriage and children

MarriagePrimary record
7 August 1879, Soerabaja, Oost Java, Netherlands Indies

Date entered as "8/7/1879"; day/month order not confirmed by a record (read as MDY).

The marriage itself is still not found: no 1879 Soerabaja record is indexed in Open Archieven. The PARENT-CHILD LINK, however, is now proven: the Rotterdam marriage of 16 Jul 1907 (akte reg. 1907K) names the groom Herman Francois Clarkson, 26 years old, born at Soerabaia (Nederlandsch Oost Indie), and gives his father as Abraham Clarkson and his mother as Hermina van Ede Van Der Pals. The Nijmegen population registers independently place Hermina van Ede van der Pals in one household with Herman F. and Willem P. Clarkson.

Children

Notes in the tree

Identified in three military records: the Bergen op Zoom militia enrolment register for lichting 1873, klasse 1853 ("Abraham Clarkson, geboren te Vlissingen"); a stamboek of the Oost-Indisch leger (NA 2.10.50, inv. 10) for an Abraham Clarkson born at Vlissingen; and the yearly Officiersboekjes, where "A. Clarkson" appears from 1877 through 1883.
