The line, generation by generation
Seven generations of fathers and sons. For each one: what the tree claims, and what a record actually says. The badge on each generation is about the link upward to the previous one.

Marriage
What the link rests on
Paternity of Abraham David Salomons Clarkson is now established by two official records: the Vlissingen marriage of 22 Nov 1837 (akte 63) names the groom's parents as Robert R. Clarkson and Catharina Maria Salomons, and the Bergen op Zoom death record of 4 Nov 1876 (akte 242) names the deceased's parents as Robert Rolston Clarkson and Catharina Salomons. Birth year 1786 (GenArchives, uncited) and the death 25 Dec 1819 Essequibo/Demerara remain UNVERIFIED: no record found.
Named as the groom's mother in the 1837 Vlissingen marriage (as "Catharina Maria Salomons") and as the mother of the deceased in the 1876 Bergen op Zoom death record (as "Catharina Salomons"). Birth year 1761 (GenArchives, uncited) remains unverified.
Abraham Clarkson
Death not found in a record. A search of Open Archieven for every Clarkson record returns no Breda (or other Dutch) death or transcription for him in 1882-1883, so the GenArchives claim of 23 Nov 1882 at Breda is still unverified; their page also mistypes his birth as 1863. He last appears in the Officiersboekjes for 1883, consistent with a death in late 1882.
Marriage
Date entered as "8/7/1879"; day/month order not confirmed by a record (read as MDY).
The marriage itself is still not found: no 1879 Soerabaja record is indexed in Open Archieven. The PARENT-CHILD LINK, however, is now proven: the Rotterdam marriage of 16 Jul 1907 (akte reg. 1907K) names the groom Herman Francois Clarkson, 26 years old, born at Soerabaia (Nederlandsch Oost Indie), and gives his father as Abraham Clarkson and his mother as Hermina van Ede Van Der Pals. The Nijmegen population registers independently place Hermina van Ede van der Pals in one household with Herman F. and Willem P. Clarkson.

Date entered as "12/9/1925"; day/month order not confirmed by a record (read as MDY).
Found: Stadsarchief Rotterdam, register of marriages and divorces 1907 (toegang 999-06, inv. 1907K). The groom is Herman Francois Clarkson, 26, born Soerabaia, son of Abraham Clarkson and Hermina van Ede Van Der Pals; the bride is Josina Elizabeth van den Bos, 23, born Rotterdam, daughter of Nicolaas Gijsbertus van den Bos and Henriette Wilhelmina Hopmans (one index copy reads "Hopmans van Wurmond"). This is the record that proves generation 3 to generation 4.
Den Helder marriage register 1910, akte 190 (Noord-Hollands Archief 358.33, inv. 21910; same event indexed by Regionaal Archief Alkmaar as 77.1.2.030 inv. 627 akte 1910/188). A divorce was inscribed in the marriage register of the municipality of residence; the couple appear together on a Den Helder-region gezinsblad covering 1880-1917.
